How do you make a web site?

Posted by admin on Jan 12, 2009

Are there places that give you a web site free?

I want to make one for my massage therapy business.

Once you make it, how do you get it so that if someone types "massage therapy" in google or yahoo search, your web page comes up under the results?

Thank you.

I have setup a couple of websites over the past year or so. I am learning every day about them and how to rank well in search engines. I don't think I will ever stop learning. Here is the information I have from my personal experience with creating websites.

There are 2 ways you can do this, free and paid.

Free: Go to a site like wordpress.com and create a blog/website. Your site will be given an address like, YourSite.wordpress.com

Paid: You can look through registrars like GoDaddy and Dynadot to see what website names are available like YourSiteName.com. They usually charge between $7-10 per year for a website name ("domain name").
Then you must select a web host to your website on. Most of the hosts like Ez1host.com and JetNetHost.com have website templates ready to go.

About getting ranked high in the search engines. Believe it or not this is the toughest part. The place where I gained most of my knowledge on this subject is forums.digitalpoint.com

Freewebs is a good and easy way to make a site.. and can get on to search engine listings…

Google has Googlepages and blogger which are very easy to do to.They even have simple tools like site submission and webmaster tools which help get your site indexed which are free!!..

Some people find some of these easier to work than others..
Personally i would try them all "freewebs" "blogger"and "Google pages" and see which one you like as they can all be very good at attracting visitors and search engine rankings depending on how much you work on them and its about user friendly and only you can choose this..
Good luck!:)

Pheww, i could do with a massage now:D

Frankly! Don't waste your time, money and energy!
Don't use any free service if you are serious about your work.
Create your professional website and add it to search engines. But according to my long experience, your website woudn't be found by search engines. This is very very very competetive issue. There are thousands website which are ranked better than yours. You will be displayed on the page of 100 0r 101 !!! But you can advertise with search engines to be displayed on first page. Now search your business by Google or Yahoo. You will see that some websites have advertised in order to be displayed on first page (under title of Sponsered Links). You should do the same as they.

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website:

1- Buy a domain name.
2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name

If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

They are a Multi-awarded Web Hosting which offer a Full-featured service only $6.95 a month. You can see their Plan Details accompanied with reliable reviews regarding their service at:
http://www.threehosts.com/reviews/1st

Here I have copied and pasted its features from their website to view:

- Free Domain Forever
- Unlimited Space
- Unlimited Transfer
- Host UNLIMITED Domains (Support All Domain Names)
- 2,500 POP/Imap Email Accounts
- SSH (Secure Shell), SSL, FTP, Stats
- CGI, Ruby (RoR), Perl, PHP, MySQL
- 2000/2002 Front Page Extensions
- Free Site Builder
- 24/7 Superb/Responsive Sales/Support
- Free Search Engine Submission

They also offer "Free Site Builder" that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get)

******IMPORTANT*******
* This service was awarded “The Best Web Host OF 2008”.
* If you sign up for this service you will have $100 credits to advertise your website with the google & yahoo search engines for free!
