does anyone have suggestions for a name for my massage therapy business?

Posted by admin on Jan 8, 2009

i want something unique but professional.

If you're going to be a sole proprietor, I'd suggest not getting too cute or clever. I think the best name is your name. It's your business. You will succeed or fail on the reputation you establish. You want people to know your name. So use your name – "Smith Massage and Bodywork", or "Massage by Jones."

If you try for something clever, you risk fading into the crowd. Good luck on unique. There are only so many variations of "Healing Hands", or "Water Over Stone". If you want unique, use your name. In business, your good name is the most important asset you have.

Good luck!

Name your business after what kind of massage you do and the name of your city or town or area. That way people will clearly know what you do and where you do it so that they can make a more informed decision about choosing you as their massage therapist.

Stay away from being too cutesy using those play on words like knots, knead, shangrala.

Choose a name that if YOU were the client what would hit you? What name would draw in the attention that you want and put you above those around you? Try to stay away from the typical overly used names. Just open the phone book and take a look. ;)

Also, there is a website for Massage Therapist's only; to vent, support each other, talk and share ideas with. It has people from professor level to new therapists which were former law enforcement officers to coming from the medical field. We also have a calendar for local and non-local events to participate and market yourself in. It is private so only MT's are allowed, so be prepared to provide info on your school and name to verify. This is for venting and helping reasons.
