How do you make a web site?

Are there places that give you a web site free?

I want to make one for my massage therapy business.

Once you make it, how do you get it so that if someone types "massage therapy" in google or yahoo search, your web page comes up under the results?

I have setup a couple of websites over the past year or so. I am learning every day about them and how to rank well in search engines. I don't think I will ever stop learning. Here is the information I have from my personal experience with creating websites.

There are 2 ways you can do this, free and paid.

Free: Go to a site like wordpress.com and create a blog/website. Your site will be given an address like, YourSite.wordpress.com

Paid: You can look through registrars like GoDaddy and Dynadot to see what website names are available like YourSiteName.com. They usually charge between $7-10 per year for a website name ("domain name").
Then you must select a web host to your website on. Most of the hosts like Ez1host.com and JetNetHost.com have website templates ready to go.

About getting ranked high in the search engines. Believe it or not this is the toughest part. The place where I gained most of my knowledge on this subject is forums.digitalpoint.com

For all you Massage Therapists out there…I’m thinking about going to a Massage therapy school and need input?

*how much do you get paid?
*how easy is it to get a job?
*in what state are you working?
*and where do you work(in what type of environment) if you don’t mind sharing?
*do you enjoy/recommend it?

The pay depends really. With the economy, business is a little slow if your charging a lot. I am charging 40 for a hour on my own. But I have three other massage jobs. I work for a Chiropractor and I make 15 a hour if there is no massages and if I do it is 25 a hr. I work for another Massage Therapist and she pays me 30 a hr.And I work at a Tanning salon and the owner pays me 50% of the Massage I do.

I work in PA and the atmosphere is more medical and relaxing. I like the medical part of massage more because it gets a little boring when you are just doing a regular Swedish Massage all the time. I like to help ppl feel better and get results.

I enjoy Massage Therapy very much. It actually got me real interested in learning more about the body. I am furthering my education to get my Masters in Occupational Therapy right now. But to be a massage therapist you have to love the job and not the pay. When you start out you are not going to make loads of money. I found that out the hard way.. I thought right when I got out of school I would find great jobs and makes loads of money. But it is hard with how the country is right now. Ppl can hardly pay for food nowadays let a lone a massage.

Some info I could tell you is that I went to Lincoln Technical Institute. I took the following classes:
Massage Business Administration
Psychology of the Body and CPR
Intro to Massage and Bodywork
Massage and Bodywork Procedures,Techniques and Routines
Reflexology and Acupressure
Anatomy,Physiology and Pathology I, II
Massage, Bodywork and Kinesiology
Specialized Massage
Trigger Point & Myofascial Therapy
Spa Services
Clinical Experience

These courses are not that easy. Make sure you study your Anatomy a lot. One thing you will have to do when you become a student is get student mal-practice insureance. I have AMTA. I will leave a link for you to the site…It just overs you incase something happens when you are massaging someone when you are a student. It is about 99 for a the whole year and then you upgrade to a Professional Insurance. I also am going to leave you a link to a great website to look at. Does anyone know of where I could get free Massage Therapy?

I have spasitic Cerbral Palsy, and have pain in my back hips and sometimes my legs. I am on baclofen. I would like to try to find some different type of different remedy. Thanks for your time.

If you don't have insurance, try contacting local colleges to see if they are doing any sort of research or to see if they have an outreach program that you might qualify for.
The therapists will be in training but their instructors are close by to answer any questions. Plus, typically clients with real physical needs or pathologies are given to the students with more experience. The new students give only relaxation treatments. If you can't get it for free, you may at least get it at an incredible discount (maybe 1/3 the going rate).

If Massage Therapy helps people feel better, don't you think insurance should help cover the expense.?

I wonder if there has ever been some type of focus group to see how much massage therapy has helped people. If not but cured people especially the elderly because of such therapy.

Massage helps a great deal, if someone is able to get a doctor to say they need Massage Therapy then insurance will cover it. It is slowly becoming more recognized for the many benefits it does do for the body.

Considering getting a Massage Therapy Certification – is it worth it?

I'd like to make some extra money in my spare time. I've read up on massage therapy, been to a professional massage therapist, and have practiced a bit on friends and family – it's nice to work with my hands and to do something positive for others. I currently have a 9-5 type job. Do you think it's worth it to take a certification course and start doing some massage therapy on the side… part-time and weekends? Does anybody know how expensive and/or time consuming it is to get a certification? I'm also sorta-kinda considering going back to school to become a chiropractor and thought that having a massage therapy certification might help me work my way through chiropractic college. What do you think?
Does anybody know how much money one can make in massage therapy?

Depending on the state you reside in,, regulate how many clocked hours youll need to even be allowed to take their state exam or the nationals..

As for money its a very decent living.. Alot of the colleges teach day and night and weekend classes…

Massage therapy at finish lines of races?

I am hired to perform massage at the end of a marathon. I have never done this type of massage, and don't know what to expect. SOme of the things that concern me are hygiene for the table, the runner, and myself. I'm doubting there will be a sink to wash up with. Does anyone have experience with this and can give me some help? Thanks!

I've run a lot of races and the massage tables at the end are a blessing. You have no idea how much the runners will love you.

I doubt you will be the only person doing massages there, so you may want to see if you can contact some of the others and ask about the set up.

As far as hygene, I have seen them use disinfectant wipes or hand gels between massages, both on the table and on the hands. Some of the bigger races have running water, but you should ask the coordinators before hand.

Runners arent looking for a full body massage or anything really long, I usually just like my calves and lower back done to keep my muscles from tightening up. Ask the runners what they would like.
